Lai Shi Jyan (b.1993, Fujian, China), now based in Berlin, works at the intersection of memory, politics, and Oriental aesthetics.

His canvases transform ancient symbols, red regimes, and fragments of childhood into a new visual language distinct from Western frameworks.

In his work, the “Red Horse” embodies raw desire and instinct, while “The Eternal Dance in the Darkness” stages the tension between life and death, love and fear. Each painting becomes both a reflection of personal memory and a reinterpretation of collective history.

From Fujian to Beijing to Berlin, Lai continuously draws from folk traditions, geography, and political imagery to trace his identity as an East Asian artist. His vision presents a contemporary Orient, alive with conflict, symbolism, and emotional gravity.
