About

A66 is a cross-cultural platform connecting East ⇄ West. Our residency welcomes musicians, visual artists, sound designers, writers, and small collectives who want to experiment, collaborate, and share work-in-progress with a warm local community.

Our living room 

 

Location

We are based in Sintra, Portugal. Forest trails, Moorish castles, and wild Atlantic beaches are all nearby. The house has a bright living room for writing and listening sessions and a small garden for field recording and outdoor sketches.

What we offer

  • Workspace: living room studio with monitors, basic recording, quiet rooms for focused work

  • Instruments and gear: electronic guitar, bass, pipa on request, audio interface, microphones, headphones, stands etc ( full gear list available on request, please contact us for details)

  • Painting and drawing: basic paints, brushes, canvases, paper, and easels provided (If you need anything more, Ponto das Artes Megastore, the largest art supply shop in the region, is only a 10 minute drive away, easy to reach for extra materials.)

  • Community: introductions to Lisbon and Sintra artists, low key showings and listening sessions

  • Nature: beaches for field recording, forest walks, sunrise and sunset spots

  • Documentation: optional photo and short video journal of your process

  • People who value process and intimacy over big production

Format and duration

  • Length: 1 to 4 weeks (If wish please requests for longer periods)

  • Residents at a time: 1 to 2 people or a duo

  • Family friendly by request

Costs and support

We work with a sliding scale residency fee that adjusts according to the length of stay and individual needs. Accommodation is provided in a private room in our home in Sintra. Travel costs are not included.

In certain cases, we are open to reducing or waiving fees through barter or exchange — for example, leaving behind an artwork created during the residency. All conditions are discussed case by case, depending on the artist’s situation and the possibilities we can offer at the time.

How to apply

Send one email titled “A66 Residency Sintra” to amelie@a66.global with:

  1. 5 to 10 work samples or links

  2. A short note about your project and why Sintra

  3. Preferred dates and length

  4. Any technical needs or collaborators

We read applications on a rolling basis. Shortlisted artists will be invited for a quick call.

Sharing and outcomes

We welcome open studio moments , this could be musicians sharing a small listening session, or visual artists opening their workspace to show sketches, works in progress, or finished paintings.

Residents are also invited to share an online piece for A66 channels — a photo essay, a short video, or a digital presentation of your process.

There is no pressure to finish a perfect work. Process is welcome, whether it’s a draft composition, a series of drawings, or the beginning of a new idea.

Practical notes

  • Languages: English, Chinese, Swedish, German friendly

  • Visas: artists are responsible for entry requirements, If needed, we can provide an invitation letter to support your application.

  • Accessibility: the house has stairs. Tell us what you need and we will try to help.

  • 社群連結： 介紹里斯本與辛特拉的藝術家，舉辦小型展演或聆聽會

  • 自然靈感： 海邊田野錄音、森林散步、日出與日落地點

  • 過程紀錄： 可選擇由我們拍攝照片或短片，記錄你的創作過程

形式與時間

  • 時長： 1 至 4 週 (更長時間請與我們探討與申請）

費用與支持

我們採用彈性收費標準，會根據駐留時長和藝術家需求進行調整。住宿由我們在辛特拉的家中提供，為獨立房間。旅行費用需自行承擔。

在某些情況下，我們也可以透過減免或交換的方式來安排，例如藝術家在駐留期間完成的作品可留下來作為交換。具體條件將根據藝術家的情況以及我們當下能提供的可能性來逐一討論。

我們採滾動審核。入選者將會收到簡短的線上面談邀請。

分享與成果

我們歡迎 開放工作室時刻， 音樂人可舉辦小型聆聽會，視覺藝術家則可以展示速寫、創作中的作品或完成的畫作。

駐留藝術家也可選擇為 A66 平台分享一個 線上作品 ，例如照片紀錄、短片或數位呈現。

不需要完成完美作品。 過程同樣重要，不論是一段音樂草稿、一系列繪畫，或是一個新想法的開始，我們都歡迎。

  • 簽證： 藝術家需自行確認入境需求。如有需要，我們可提供邀請函以協助申請。

  • 無障礙： 屋內有樓梯。如有需求請事先告知，我們會盡力協助。
